Step
1. Remove the complete
speedo and housing from the bike and disconnect the wiring,
then remove the speedo itself.

Step
2.
Wrap several layers of masking tape around the base of the
speedo housing where it meets the chrome bezel and then
using the dremel tool, cut several slots in the TOP ONLY
of the chrome bezel. It helps to cut the slots at an angle
so as not to cut down the side (which will be visible on
650's once reassembled).

Step
3. Using
a flathead screwdriver, bend the tabs on the bezel up until
you can remove the bezel from the housing. Set it aside
for later.

Step
4. Using
the chip puller, carefully pull straight up on the needle
until it pops off. Take care not to wiggle it at all. Just
pull straight up firmly. (The center metal shaft may come
out with the needle. This is ok, just remove it from the
needle and push it back into the center hole.
Be
VERY careful when working with your needles. I am not responsible
if you break them. This is the only way that you can install
the new face and as long as you are careful and take your
time, you'll be fine.

Step
5. Remove
the 2 small screws using the small Philips head screwdriver,
lay the new speedo face in place over the needle stop and
center shaft and then replace the 2 screws.
Step
6. Place
the needle back on very loosely and make sure that the needle
is on the wrong side of the needle stop. Very carefully
lift the end of the needle up and over the needle stop until
it’s in the correct position. Do
not push it all the way on yet.
Step
7. Reconnect
speedometer wires before you put the case back together
to make sure needle goes back to proper positions after
the speedometer does its reset. If not, pull and reposition
until the needles don’t “jump” when the
speedo resets. This portion of the install is what will
take the longest amount of time. Once the needle is in the
proper place, push it all the way on.
Be
VERY careful when working with your needles. I am not responsible
if you break them. This is the only way that you can install
the new face and as long as you are careful and take your
time, you'll be fine.
Step
8. Lay
the bezel on a soft towel with the tabs pointing up and
then press the speedo housing down into it.

Step
9. Using
a flathead screwdriver and hammer, tap on the tabs on the
bezel until they lay flat against the housing.
Step
10. Run
a bead of silicone around the perimeter of the housing and
then let dry completely to assure a waterproof seal once
again around the speedo housing.

Step
11. Your
speedo is now done and ready to reinstall on the bike.
Good
luck and I hope you enjoy your new Custom Speedo Face!
